A customer profile is a record of an individual also termed as customer information file (CIF) and is maintained with the bank for financial and non-financial transactions.

Financial transactions include cash deposit, cheque withdrawal, account to account transfer.

However non-financial transaction includes name change, address change and other personal or professional modifications.

Why do bank maintain customer under different customer profiles?

Usually the features linked to the customer is highly dependent on their profile. These features contribute a lot in the business process and type of transactions carried by different groups.


A retail category customer would hardly go for a issuing a bank guarantee and is basically required for corporate category of customer.

So, there is a required for the bank to maintain customers under different profiles.
